Day 2- Sunday18th June

"In spite of ourselves we'll end up sitting on a rainbow!

Vejle Camping - Missunde (D) . 162 km. Total 338 km.

5.33 a. m. The tent is stowed away. I felt a few drops of rain around 4 o'clock, but right now the weather is fine. 9 degrees and no wind. The pigeons are making noises, and I am eating buns with water. Ahead of me the way out of Vejle with the awesome hill is waiting.

It was quite entertaining to ride through Vejle about 6 a.m. A lot of young people were trying to stand their liquors. Very funny. And of course I managed the hill without great difficulty.

As soon as I had left Vejle it got windy. And what is more, we are dealing with a headwind. The headwind was constant the 106 km to Flensburg. And nobody can claim that the ride between Vejle and Flensburg is an entertaining one. In fact is rather boring. My legs felt heavy today and I had a minor injury in my left thigh. Near Hoptrup I spotted a funny animal. It was a polecat, galloping across the road. Probably to get to the other side.

Near Haderslev I met a Swede, whose name was Rune. He was on his way to Africa. Quite remarkable, inasmuch as he was riding an ordinary gentleman's bicycle. We rode together to Flensburg, where we went to Pizza Hut. We had American Rib to DM 9.90. Then we said good bye but we promised to keep each other informed about what happened afterwards.

"My name is Rune. I am on my way to Africa."

I managed to find my way out of Flensburg with no trouble, and as I rode the compass direction Southeast it got very hot. The morning had been quite chilly, but now it was a wonderful weather. I found out that there was a camping site close to Missunde, where the ferry across Schlei is. I decided to rest there. I arrived a little before 5 p.m. and had to realize that the price was the same as it had been in Denmark. I suppose that is the price one must pay.

Right now I am sitting with a view to the water. The sun is shining brightly and it's warm and nice here, about 21 Degr. C. I feel tired so I am going to sleep early. Imagine the weather
