The wind was very heavy today when I started out with my 5 students. They were lucky because we had a tailwind all 30 kilometres. And after that they were allowed to put their bikes in a car, whereas yours faithfully fought against the wind on the way home. However, I was happy that they did not join me on that part of the trip; it would definitely have been too much for them. But all in all the trip was very good. and I did get 65 kilometres for my diary.
Back in school we managed to solve a few computer problems and at home I put a small Danish flag on a pole on the trailer. It looks good to me.
I forgot to get batteries today. Some of the batteries I am using for my small radio. It's a special radio which some students gave to me back in 1995, and since then I have brought it with me on every trip
And now I have in fact only very few things to finish tomorrow. As I had expected the caretaker had brought a very fine old adjustable spanner, and he told me, I could borrow it for the trip. That's a very good thing for that cool can replace 2-3 other items of tools. The weather forecast for the day after tomorrow still looks good. No they have even promised me a kind of tail wind.
I rode with my new tires today. Then I am sure
there are ok for Saturday morning. I still remember the terrible day in
1973, when I lived in Flensburg and was going on a trip to Der Harz. I
was on my way with all my things loaded on the bike, when the tire suddddenly
exploded, because the tube was not correctly mounted. Unfortunately some
workers were standing right there, and I am still able to recall their
roars of laughter when I wheeled back.
The problem was solved and the expedition carried through, but since that
day I have always been very careful when I put on tubes and tires.
Tomorrow is the day where I must finish all the jobs in order, because there are no more days.
