1 DAY BEFORE
Sunday 4th June 2007

Tomorrow I set out for Puerto Galera, Mindoro, where I am supposed to be a Philippine teacher for about a week.
I have booked the plane ticket, and I have made a deal with the driver, who will pick me up in he airport in Manila.
I have already called him and he promised me he would not be late. His name is Mr. Boyet and he is the substitute for another driver called Mr. Nixon.
(Nooooo, not that Mr.Nixon)

Should I be late for the last ferry to Puerto Galeara, I know where to find an affordable pension house.
And even if I have only 100 km from Manila to Batangas, where the ferry leaves from, many things can go wrong.
Anything can happen in the traffic in and around Manila.
I have read in the papers that he rainy season has not yet begun.
The heavy showers, we experienced in the Cebu area recently was only a foretaste of what can be expected later on.
Another thing is that Manila and Mindoro are situated in areas where thyphoons may occur and in 2006 they were severely hit by several typhoons.
Parts of Mindoro had to manage without electricity for a very long time. In cases like that some people have their own generator. They cannot expect the damages to be mended right away.
Unless it happens just before an election, because in that case it seems that problems are much easier solved.
:-)

I have no idea what will happen when I get to the school.
Maybe that's a good thing ....
