DAY 2 MARCH 21ST 2005
MONDAY

It’s a good thing to take notes.

It’s strange how quickly you forget about things.

You think u can remember, but  you can’t?

I did not take any notes.

However, I do remember I slept so well the first night in Castro. Normally I am an early riser, but here, I was able to sleep for a very long time.

A good sign.

We had  a nice breakfast, but I had to wait for my bike.

It came after noon.

It’s always interesting to see the condition of the bike after a trip on a plane.
I believe they sometimes throw the bags on the ground and jump up and down on them.

But this time I was lucky.
Well, more or less. I could not find the screw I should use to tighten the seat pin.
Nowhere to be seen.

I needed to go the bike shop in Castro to get that spare part.

Elena and I was going to have lunch in an extremely nice restayrant on the coast. The place was called Islares.
I had my favourite dish which is sea food.

Later in the afternoon, we went to Elena’s school in Trappagaran. I liked the place very much. It’s a school where the students come in the afternoon to learn more.
I do not think we have schools like that in Denmark.

I had planned some activities for the students. It was on Denmark. I told a bit about myself and I had also made a quiz on Denmark.
These are some of the things from the quiz:

How high is the highest mountain in Denmark?

a)178 m b) 678 m c) 1078 m

What is the name of the Danish queen

a)Alexandra b) Margrethe c) Mary

The name of a famous Danish statue:

a)The little prince b) The little Mermaid c) The little frog

A Famous Danish story teller:

a)      Walt Disney b) Bill Gates c) Hans Christian Andersen

The Danish numbers from one to ten. Put them in the correct order

Fem tre fire ti seks en ni otte to ti syv

I also asked the students to tell about the countries they had been to.
They mentioned mostly Spain. (The school is in the Basque Country), France and Portugal.

We also found the time to sing : “Are you sleeping, brother John” in English

Mester Jakob, mester Jakob
Sover du, sover du
Hører du ej klokken, hører du ej klokken
Bim bam bum
Bim bam bum.

They seemed to like the song.

Elena took pictures, and maybe she will allow me to bring them here.
